How to Manage your Hangover

Fatigue, thirst, malaise, headaches. All common symptoms of a common problem. The hangover, the bane of meetings and family visits for centuries. We all get them but none of us like them. Within this post, we’ll speak about what a hangover consists of, and some helpful tips on how to help you through the aftermath of a heavy night out.

What is a Hangover?

So, what is a hangover? What causes them? Hangovers refer to the set of symptoms that one gets from drinking too much, leaving you drained and with a sore head, perhaps a sensitive stomach too [1]. In this post, we’ll take you through some preventative measures for hangovers, along with help getting through to the other side.

Pre-Empt the Problem

Firstly, a question. Wouldn’t it be great to not get a hangover in the first place? Of course, it would be but alas we inhabit reality. However, there are certain steps you can take to help pre-empt the problem of hangovers [2]. One simple step that you can take is simply keeping hydrated on a night out. Instead of buying spirit after spirit, why not opt for a Blueberry Sour Mocktail in between drinks? Another simple step you can take is to make sure you’re not drinking on an empty stomach, as this helps slow down your body’s absorption of alcohol. Hydration is key to help prevent the dehydration that comes with a hangover, and therefore it can be seen as a top-quality idea.

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate

Now, let's look at some measures to help during the peak of the hangover. There is no magic answer to a hangover, but there are ways to mitigate some of the problems. One of the worst parts of a hangover can be dehydration. When your mouth is dry, sometimes water just doesn’t cut the mustard. The best hangover drinks are refreshing. We suggest trying one of our daily recipes to help change up the fluids going into your body. The combination of flavours such as Ginger and Turmeric Tonic with ACV offers a refreshing change of pace from plain water after all. Remember, hydration is key and with our many drink recipes, you can keep hydrated and keep the taste buds from becoming bored.

When hunger strikes.

But what happens when the stomach calls? How can ACV help you through then? Although tempting, try not to pick up your phone to order a pizza. The best hangover food is fresh and homemade. Try our Tropical Fruit Salad for a refreshing taste of the tropics, or perhaps our indulgent Glazed Chicken Udon for a comforting meal in your hour of need. With the refreshing taste of OSU combined with quality ingredients hits your lips, the hangover blues could simply melt away.

Keep Yourself Mindful

There’s always the last option people think of taking when it comes to drinking. That being just not. With phenomena such as dry January being all the rage, more and more people are deciding to cut down or even simply stop drinking altogether. If we’re being honest, this is the best way to avoid a hangover. But how can ACV help you get through a low-alcohol- or alcohol-free night? Well, it’s quite simple really. Why not try out our Frozen Berries and Lime Spritz for a winning taste without any of the problematic afters that comes with drinking.
