ACV Hair Rinse
From the catwalk to your kitchen, the latest trend grabbing headlines is "how apple cider vinegar is creating healthy glossy luscious locks". Yes, you heard it right! Say goodbye to dandruff and dull hair through incorporating apple cider vinegar into your beauty routine[1].
To create your perfect hair rinse, you will need:
- Container (water bottle, spray bottle etc)
- 1 litre of water
- 5 tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar
Method:
- Shampoo and condition hair.
- Combine 5 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with a full bottle of water.
- Pour ACV from middle lengths of your hair to the tips and avoid pouring on scalp.
- Let the apple cider vinegar mix sit in your hair for 2 minutes.
- Leave the vinegar in your hair to dry. Don’t worry, once dry your hair will be free of the vinegar smell.
Things to note:
- Dry hair should have less vinegar; oily hair should have more vinegar.
- Recommended twice per week. This treatment shouldn’t be used every day as it can dry out the hair.
- ACV must be diluted with water because it contains acetic acid. If not diluted it may irritate your skin.
- Avoid contact with eyes.
- If you would like to keep your scalp healthy by warding off bacteria and keeping a balanced pH level on your scalp, dilute 2 tablespoons in the same amount of water and gently exfoliates the scalp.
Apple Cider Vinegar For Dandruff?
Some claim that vinegar can help hair that looks dull, brittle, or frizzy. They state by pouring apple cider vinegar onto your hair you are lowering the pH of your hair which then brings it back into a healthier balance[2]. Rich in vitamins and minerals which are good for hair including Vitamin C and B, apple cider vinegar will also help to exfoliate scalp skin, which can help with dandruff[3].
Why are ACV Hair Rinses So Popular?
Why is this hair rinse so amazing?! Celebrity model Miranda Kerr explains why you just have to try using apple cider vinegar on your hair: “Hair-wise, I love using coconut oil as a treatment and apple cider vinegar for shininess — you put on a little bit in the shower as a rinse, and then wash it out. It stinks a little, but then you dry it and the smell goes away. I'm obsessed with having clean hair.”[4] And she is not the only celeb that has discovered the magic powers of apple cider vinegar.
