Apple Cider Vinegar

OSU is an apple cider vinegar blended with natural fruit juices, crafted using our company’s 200 years' expertise in crafting vinegars in Japan. Natural and unpasteurised, all our vinegars include ‘The Mother’, which are the strands of protein present within raw apple cider vinegar as a result of the fermentation process. Our ACV is blended with the juice of apples and other delicious citruses and berries to balance the tang of the vinegar with the natural sweetness of the fruits.

Apple cider vinegar is made by fermenting apple juice, with the sugars transformed into alcohol. The cider then undergoes a second fermentation where the alcohol is converted to acetic acid. Acetic acid, is a main component of vinegar and is what gives vinegar its sour taste profile.

‘The Mother’ or the ‘mother of vinegar’, are the strands of protein present within raw apple cider vinegar as a result of the fermentation process. It is totally harmless, and you might have noticed it at the bottom of your bottle, which is why you need to give it a good shake!

Yes, OSU is an unfiltered product, therefore includes ‘The Mother’, which are the strands of protein present within the raw apple cider vinegar.

Apple cider vinegar can be used in a variety of ways. Most commonly it is drunk mixed with water as a daily tonic. To drink, dilute to taste with still, sparkling or warm water. Visit our inspiration page for more uses.
